Number of Pages Read: 81

For my literature circles I read with a couple of class mates "The Chocolate Wars" by Robert Comier. This week I had the job of the Discussion Directer. What I basically had to do is right down a couple of questions for my group to answer and kind of lead the conversation with the group. Some of my question were the following:

What was your favorite part so far?
For the first question the majority of my group agreed on part when Jerry was elected to the chocolates.

Could you relate this book with any other?
My group mates said that they could not relate this book with any other because it is kind of  a very strange book.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate this book?
Some of my group mates said that it is too early to decide the ratings. But other ether really liked the book and some didn't like it at all because it is not very good compared to other books.

If you were righting a book what would you do to make it better than"The Chocolate Wars"?
Some people said that the book was too confusing and that it had too many characters in it and others said that it had way too many events in it.

BLOG:  Summary
The protagonist of the book, a freshman at Trinity, Jerry Renault is confronted by the Vigils. The Vigils, being the school gang, with Archie Costello as their leader.  The Goober, Jeri's friend gets an assignment from the Vigils to sneak into room 19 and unscrew all the hinges from the desks, chairs, and the board. The next, day the whole classroom collapses, to the Vigils satisfaction. Later, on in the book the Goober is described to have looked very depressed about the event. Focusing, more on Jerry, Archie is asked to represent the Vigils, and participate in the annual school chocolate sale.  Jerrie is given an assignment to refuse Brother Leon's command to to participate and sell 50 boxes of chocolates. Refusing to sell the 50 boxes of chocolate, can lead to school revolution.

Discussion Director-Chocolate War by Luka Dragoljic #1

Discussion Director-Chocolate War

Who are The “Vigils”?

The Vigils are a secret organization of students that has a big influence at Trinity school. You can basically say that they are “in charge” of the school. They blackmail and terrorize the other students.  They often force the students to do things which are not allowed.

Who is Archie?

Archie is the leader of The Vigils. He is cool and smooth with words. He is clever but hates sports. Everybody is jealous of him because whenever he wants something to be done, whatever the cost, he gets it done.

What is Archie’s role in The Vigils?

He is the “assigner” which means that he gives assignments to kids. The assignments are pretty hard to accomplish and most of the time they involve things that harm others.

What is Goober’s assignment?

His assignment is to loosen up with a screwdriver all the desks and chairs in room 19.

Summarize briefly Jerry Renault’s family and his tragic life.

Jerry Renault is a freshman in high school. He is shy when a girl comes to talk to him. He also loves football and is aiming to be the best quarterback at school. His father is a pharmacist while his mother unfortunately died of a disease which could not be cured.

Bing Traveltracer

For the first rotation In are literature circles I was the travel tracer I travel traced the first 14 Chapters of our book "The Chocolate War"

First Jerry is at the football field playing football. Then we go to Archie putting down names and assigning goober to loosen all the screws in room 19 of the second floor. Then Jerry talks about hiding the Playboy magazine for his dad.
After that brother Leon gives cheating lessons. Then we turn to goober loosening the screws with which he gets help from masked guys. Then Jerry goes home and talks to his dad about "life". Then brother Leon has a presentation about chocolate selling's at school and Jerry gets a vigil assignment

First Few Chapter Of THE CHOCOLATE WAR

Summarize
At the beginning the main character as a loner wants some inappropriate stuff. Looking at *Playboy and other Magazines. He was longing to not die without having some inappropriate stuff. Around the middle of the first chapters that we had to read,  there were around 2000-3000 boxes of chocolate assigned to the school. This means according to the book that 50 boxes are assigned to each student. The book also says that they must sell these and they cannot eat any of them.Going back to the beginning of the book it starts off with Jerry playing in the football team but he quickly gets knocked out.
